Well, after some 'additional procedures' at checking, I have my boarding pass to head home to New York. I will post the full daily update when I land in LA, but till then, look at this chart. Case number are not growing quite as fast as predicted in the USA and UK, but figures remain concerning. Another bad day from Spain and Italy too. Looking ahead, brace for large increases in case numbers in the fortnight ahead in countries such as USA, UK and Australia that have only just begun to lock down.
The lesson here is surely that locking down hard and early leads to much, much less pain later on. It will also, very likely, lead to less economic hardship overall (though countries must guard against reinfection). For countries that still have only 50 to 100 cases, think hard about shutting down soon... Comments are closed.
